Kitchen companies compared

Who will fit your kitchen? How K4 compares with the national kitchen companies

Every K4 kitchen is fitted by K4’s own employed fitters, and we organise every other trade the job needs. Here is how that compares with the national kitchen companies, in their own words, with a link to each page we quote.

Do Wren Kitchens use their own fitters?

Wren’s installation terms say the fitting is done by “one of our subcontractors (the Fitter)”. Removing the old kitchen is optional and costs extra, and appliances are fitted without connections. At K4, our own employed fitters fit your kitchen, we organise the other trades, and taking out your old kitchen is included in our guide prices.

Does IKEA fit kitchens?

Yes, through “professional and qualified independent contractors”. Electrical, gas and plumbing work, and work such as tiling or plastering, are a private agreement between you and the installer.

Can I buy a kitchen from Howdens?

Not directly. Howdens sells only to the trade, so a homeowner buys a Howdens kitchen through a builder or fitter, who then fits it.

What should I ask any kitchen company before I buy?
  • Who will fit my kitchen, and do they work for you?
  • Is taking out the old kitchen included?
  • Are the gas, electrical and plumbing connections included?
  • Who arranges the plastering, tiling and flooring?
  • Who do I deal with while the work is going on?
  • How long is the guarantee on the fitting, and who gives it?
