Ideas

More than a kitchen

  • A multifunctional open plan decorative storage and desk space. This type of space is very flexible and can easily be designed to suit your needs
  • Back door area, boot room. A versatile idea that can be adapted in size. Works well with a tough, easy clean LVT floor like this one.
  • This bespoke banquette has panelling to match the kitchen door style. It is also a stand out design statement with a feature wallpaper and gorgeous upholstered fabric. We make banquette seating areas to order - any size layout and fabric. Great for casual eating, storage, homework and multitasking.
  • Window seats – a lovely feature that shows off the window, uses the floor space and creates extra storage – if you wish.
  • Utility rooms come in all shapes and sizes. This one has a large butler sink which is easy to keep clean and is a real asset. Open shelves are useful storage that makes items easy to find.
  • Guest room, bedroom, dressing room you name it we can design it.
  • Working from home? Then why not convert a guest bedroom into a dual purpose office/bedroom? We can help to make it happen.
  • Stand alone or built in dresser, so many options for size and function. Need some storage – why not make it a focal point!
  • A great idea, stacking your tumble dryer and washing machine and hiding them too - will also cut down the noise and make a home for the ironing board.
  • Enlarge this image – is it a dining room or an office or lounge? It could be any or all of these! With a little help from K4.
  • Great dog model – seriously, mud spaces to super boot rooms they are all designed to suit the families needs, mine revolves (not literally) around mountain biking.
  • This twin office/homework space easily becomes a dressing table and guest bedroom.

Kitchens with Alterations in Canterbury and East Kent

Not every new kitchen is a simple like-for-like replacement. Many homeowners want to improve the layout, create more space, or make their kitchen work better for modern living. At K4 Kitchens, we specialise in kitchens that involve alterations, helping you transform both the look and the function of your space.

With over 26 years of experience designing and installing kitchens across Canterbury and East Kent, we regularly handle projects that include layout changes, wall removals, and structural adjustments.

Creating a Kitchen That Works for Your Home

Older kitchens were often designed around outdated appliances and closed-off spaces. Today, many customers want:

  • Open-plan kitchen and dining areas

  • Kitchen islands or breakfast bars

  • Better storage and workflow

  • More natural light

  • Improved access and movement

By making thoughtful alterations to the layout, we can completely change how your kitchen feels and functions.

Types of Kitchen Alterations We Carry Out

We manage a wide range of kitchen alteration projects, including:

  • Removing or altering internal walls

  • Reconfiguring kitchen layouts

  • Moving sinks, appliances or services

  • Creating open-plan kitchen spaces

  • Installing kitchen islands

  • Improving lighting and electrical layouts

Every project is carefully planned to ensure the changes are practical, safe and compliant with building regulations where required.

Fully Managed from Start to Finish

Kitchen alterations often involve more than just cabinets and worktops. That’s why we offer a complete, managed service covering every stage of the project.

This typically includes:

  • Initial consultation and design

  • Detailed home survey

  • Layout planning and advice

  • Coordination of trades if required

  • Full kitchen installation

  • Final finishing and checks

You only deal with one company, one plan and one clear quotation.

Practical Design with Real Experience

Because we’ve been designing kitchens for over two decades, we understand what works in real homes. We’ll guide you through the possibilities and help you decide which alterations will give you the biggest improvement in space, storage and usability.

Our goal is to create a kitchen that not only looks great but also makes everyday life easier.
